Use the custodian that holds the type of San Diego record you need:

- Court cases by name: use the San Diego court record path and contact the business office where the case was filed
- Birth, death, marriage, and divorce records: follow the San Diego vital record routes
- Voter status or restricted voter data: contact the San Diego County Registrar of Voters at 5600 Overland Avenue, San Diego, CA 92123, 858-505-7260; see San Diego voter registration records
- Staff, school, professional, and historical listings: use the San Diego people directories
- City records not already online: contact the City Clerk at 202 C Street, San Diego, CA 92101, 619-533-4000, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays, or file a California Public Records Act request
